We finished our giant can of Christmas popcorn last night, so I guess that means it’s time to get back to work. Frankly, I’m thrilled. I missed my routine, and I was away from Hourglassy long enough to miss writing, too. I hope you had a wonderful break from your own routines last week and that the new year ahead is full of promise for you.

We’ve just returned from ten days in Florida with my mom, and last Monday my sister and I took her shopping at Talbot’s. While there, I told my sister that this top would look GREAT on her. It’s especially nice because it has a double-layered front that keeps everything smooth and might even help with headlights.

I had the hardest time not telling her what I’d bought her for Christmas right then and there. She was actually excited about her gift when she opened it. My other sister, however, has yet to be persuaded that Spot Lifter II is going to change her life. (I took a photo of her expression when she opened it, but the picture is too unflattering to share with you.)

After Talbot’s, the Lily Pulitzer store drew us in. I have never considered myself a Lily Pulitzer customer, but some of the prints and colors really captivated me. For instance, I love this coral paisley on navy background in their Henley maxi dress. I think the print could even distract from the single chest pocket that would be disproportionate to our busts.

The colors in this tunic dress caught my eye, but the more I studied it, the more I appreciated its bust-friendly seaming, complete with integrated pockets! It’s made out of a feather-light cotton lawn that I can’t imagine adapting for winter weather, so I didn’t even tempt myself by trying it on. However, I would love to have this option in the summer.

BiuBiu offers a knit tunic with the same princess-seams-and-integrated-pockets idea for winter.

And even though the seams don’t continue to the back, Urkye offers a similar pocket-in-princess-seams feature in its Kieska dress. Leah raved about her own Kieska dress back in 2012.

Finally, we were shopping on the same street as La Bella Intimates, and I had hoped to find out my current Kris Line size there, but we ran out of time. My sisters and mom are back to wearing horribly fitting bras. In the past I would have pushed for a girl’s day out to a bra store, but I’m afraid they’ve worn me down.
