We didn’t mean to go silent last week, but both Leah and I found ourselves on projects that forced us to put writing on the back burner. Don’t worry, though. Hourglassy is back on the front burner for the week ahead.
Some day I’m going to analyze the full-bust style of the amazing Taraji Henson in depth. I’ve wanted to feature her on our Celebrity D Cup and Up List ever since discovering her on Person of Interest (and I haven’t even seen Empire yet!). Until then, and to thank you for your patience last week, here she is at the BET Celebration of Gospel in January.
Comments have been light on this blog for a while, but I would love to hear your thoughts in a non-bashing sort of way. It’s obvious the bra is too small, but what else? What bra would you have recommended she wear instead? Would you wear this look if you could have both a dress AND a bra that fit? Would you wear it even if you had to squeeze into the dress and bra?
She looks beautiful but yes, the bra is too small and the dress top doesn’t provide enough coverage/depth for her. I wouldn’t wear the dress with a bra peeking out, (even if it fit, just out of my comfort zone) but I probably would wear it with an amazing corset underneath peeking out! I do like the lace details that show.
I’m so glad you commented, Miss Dell! I would like to THINK that I would wear this outfit–the overall effect is so vavavoom– but I’d be too annoyed by the smashed profile shape to commit to it.
A corset is an amazing idea!
I was thinking a bra like the Panache Dahlia might work, but I realize the center gore isn’t tacking on Taraji, so it is less obviously a bra. And the eyelash lace is so beautiful.
I think the lace is part of the dress rather than a separate bra. This is probably a borrowed dress and therefore not tailored to her own body. If it was tailored, she could have had the bust area fit her properly and the waist and rib area taken in to fit. As it is either the designer or her stylist probably just got the smaller size and adjusted her boobs/the bra so she could fit her bust in the smaller size.
I agree that the eyelash lace is gorgeous but knowing what I know about fit, I’m not sure that I could wear a poorly-fitting garment and pretend to be comfortable in it.
