Today I was meant to write a post about cardis as I found a perfect V-necked cardi last weekend from a supermarket store. Also I have another asymmetric one that I want to show. I’ve been meaning to do that post for a long time as I’m not a fan of traditional cardis and never ever wear those ladylike or preppy ones. But . . . I’m soooo exhausted in a good way that I simply don’t have the energy to take the photos now.
I’m exhausted because I was able to start my dear hobby that keeps me sane and in good spirits even under enormous work stress: horse riding, particularly dressage. Everyone needs something to balance the work life, and animals are such great shrinks! Especially horses who you have to completely focus with and forget everything else while you are at the stables. Horses also teach great leadership skills!
And you can do so much with horses!
Today I attended a ground work course that my works horse club organized. Was so much fun and got a real taster of western horsemanship.
More and more adults are starting horse riding either again or as total beginners. I ride with a few on Mondays that have learned horse riding in their forties! They absolutely love it and say it’s the best stress reliever they’ve ever had. Great life balancer and a way to get to know new people – and even network professionally!
To add a busty twist, a great sports bra is essential.
I would love to know what other people find as best stress relievers or stress handling techniques. Any new ideas are more than welcome. 🙂
I think its great how jargon can vary from region to region in the same “community”. I’m assuming what you are calling ground course work is the first set of pictures? We call it a trail or obstacle course (I’ve actually competed in it with a dressage saddle on a hunter pony.) One of the camps I worked at had a mixed barn staff of Americans and Internationals, so many different words for the same things!
I will say I find riding on the flat so much more relaxing than over fences- but that might have to do with the horse. We have some really sweet horses at the barn now and they make flat work so much fun.
yes, the jargon varies so much! Especially in dressage but also in general terminology with different riding areas.
But actually I really was referring to ground work when I mentioned yesterdays course, as in on the ground working with the horse on the rope – western style. We’ll continue taking those classes as it was a lot of fun and surprisingly physically hard work. And the rope techniques takes some leargning! My left arm was almost useless now, no proper coordination 🙂
The photo with the quarter horse and the gate – we do call that western trail riding here. But then also trail riding means just going out with the horse for a long ride, post to post or end and start from the same place.
We have the regular trail rides but at shows we have a trail/obstacle class to demonstrate we can handle whatever we find on the trail (in theory, I’ve yet to see a cow in a trail class and that’s something we see far too often along the trail since pastures abut them and boulders, they need to have “scary” boulders in the class, too 😛 )
It’s so nice to see another horse lover in the D+ lingerie world bloggers!
I’ve been riding since I was 7 and I’m lucky enough to have my very own horse. I’ve had him for 8 years now (known him for 9). Time sure flies.
He’s a Paint Horse and I mostly do trail rides with him. I love riding in the mountains.
I’ve tried countless sport bras and the best one is hands down the Panache Sport. Nothing comes close to its greatness when it comes to support and shape. That bra is pure gold for horsewomen.
I use the Shock Absorber bra but sound like I should give the Panache Sport a go! I’m not fully pleased with the Shock Absorber shape even though the support is good. Dressage tends to be super bouncy so not sure that any bra can fully eliminate that 🙂
I’ve started to think about owning a horse, maybe next spring… Lets see, the upkeep is so expensive where I live so really need to consider.
Getting to ride your own horse on the mountains sound heavenly <3 !
I hope you like the Panache Sport if you give it a try! In the past, I managed to find a couple of bras that supported my breasts adequately enough but none that didn’t give that horrible flattened-and-pointing downward shape.
The shape of the Panache is so outstanding that it can be worn as a regular T-shirt bra if you’re in a pinch. I’ll never wear anything else for sport.
Regarding horses, yes, the upkeep is expensive indeed. Much more than the purchase of the horse when you add everything up over several years. The money I have left after paying my bills goes mostly to the upkeep of my horse and that doesn’t leave me much for clothes/beauty stuff/outings.
I wouldn’t have it any other way because I love my horse and I’m so happy to have him but it’s definitely wiser to think long and hard about it before going ahead. You’re making the right call by taking your time.
Another way to ride regularly is to “lease” a horse. It’s very common here in France. Basically, the owner of a horse asks for someone to pay half of the board and half of all the other expenses (vet, farrier etc…) and in exchange the horse is half-yours for the duration of the contract you set up. Some owners are just too busy and not financially strapped so they sometimes don’t even ask you to participate in other expenses, just the board.
Maybe that could be an option for you?
I’m a bit hesitant with leasing because a lot of owners see their horses as their babies and pamper them, when the leaser is much more practical and treats the animal as an animal with the respect it deserves as a great animal they sometimes tend to not see eye to eye. Especially if they are not serious riders themselves. I do have friend who’d be willing to buy a horse with me but I’m just afraid she would not be willing to ride the kind of horse I would want for competing in dressage…
