I’ve officially sized out of some brands/styles of bras. Â I know I’m not alone. Â I know that it is frustrating for those of us in the H+ crowd to see bras for the GG and under ladies get prettier. Â It’s hard that we still feel left out. Â I hope this post lets you know you are not alone. Â Â I know that frustration.
I also know that we have a lot more options than we did in the past. Â We don’t have to be limited to beige or black granny bras. Â More brands ARE making beautiful bras for us. Â Those that aren’t need to hear from us. Â Let them know what you want…what you NEED. Â If you want a bright red bra in a size 28K, let them know. Â If you want to run but have yet to find a sports bra that holds you in, bounce free, let them know. Â We don’t have to be ashamed of our size. Â We can ask for what we need. Â If we don’t speak out, they have no idea how much of a demand there is for gorgeous H+ bras.
I’m calling on my bustiest of the busty readers to share your favorite bras and any wants/needs you have.
Yes!! I need to be more proactive about this…the thing I’m appalled about is the lack of selection for H+ maternity and nursing bras. I was already a 30G before having a baby, and afterwards I couldn’t find a single thing that fit or was even offered in my size! I think I went up to a 32L. After 7 months of nursing I’m finally able to fit into a 32H (the largest cup I could find in a nursing bra), but it’s still not a great bra.
I also wish I had a decent bra retailer nearby! I live just outside of San Francisco, so you think there would be something, but no such luck. I’ve never been able to try on bras in my size in a brick-and-mortar establishment. I just play the online ordering game 🙁
I’ve been making my own nursing bras. I’m a UK 34J (34M or N US I think). It’s super easy and you can use ANY bra.
Oh my god, Rachel. We have the same boobs. 30G to 32L. I also live outside of San Francisco (east bay). The best bra I’ve found is the Bravado Essential Embrace from Nurtured Family. I really need the 32 L/M but the 34 J/K fits well enough. It is super annoying that there is nothing nearby. One would think that there would be. DM me on twitter if you want to commiserate about being boob twins: @svgreen
I also live right outside San Francisco(East Bay). It is a total wasteland for HH+. I am a 36J/JJ and every now and then I can try something at Nordstrom but it’s mostly order and return/order and return. For laughs I went into Beauty and Attitude in Berkeley to be measured and they tried to tell me I was a 42(maybe US G.The lowest band size they stock is 32. All those college girls at UC Berkeley are of course a 32 or over!
I agree with wanting a brick-and-mortar establishment. Bra companies don’t realize how much money we would give them if they just made it easier to buy from them! Instead, we waste all our money on shipping back and forth (usually from overseas!).
But, the biggest thing I want is for someone to recognize that large boobs don’t grow from the armpits. I’m so sick of my close-set projected breasts getting shoved into my armpits like I’m ashamed of them. I’m not saying I want 50’s pointy, but companies sometimes talk about “natural looking” bras, and that should include keeping them where they naturally sit, which is in the front, not the side. I hate putting on bras that disperse my breasts all over my chest so that I have a uniboob, instead of keeping them up front and lifted.
I’m not scared of cleavage, but it seems like bra manufacturers do everything in their power to push the breasts away from each other so they don’t result in the natural cleavage I should be getting. I love the beautiful bras that are coming out, but as young, vibrant woman, I care more about the shape the bra gives me, and if it’s giving me classy cleavage, not what it looks like it the end of the day when only I (or a lucky dude) gets to see it.
I want longlines that give nice, rounded shapes! And for that matter, a longline strapless wouldn’t be remiss…
That would be amazing
I’m a college student, probably need 28JJ and don’t live in the UK or US. Bras and shipping fees can be expensive! And I was also heartbroken when I was sized out of the freya deco and most of the bras I had loved till then.
Also, the same as Christine- I have ‘close-set projected breasts’, and manufacturer don’t seem to understand the combination of small ribs, and projected breasts!
