Sofia Vergara’s another body-positive role model that you’ve read about on Hourglassy (here and here). Am I the only one who didn’t realize that she just launched a clothing line with K-Mart? I discovered it while shopping there yesterday.
See how this bustier dress fits allegedly 34DD Sofia Vergara in the commercial below:
I wasn’t in the mood to try anything on yesterday, but now that I’ve seen this commercial, I might want to give it a try. Let me know if you try anything.
I actually saw that she had a new line but have been wondering if it’s curvy friendly. If you have a chance to try anything on eventually please post about it!
Part of the reason I didn’t try anything on was that it didn’t seem very curve friendly on the hanger. For instance, the bodice on the left of the top photo is made of a woven fabric, not knit. The cups in the size 6 bustier dress on the front of the rack (in the bottom photo) looked tiny. HOWEVER, if you look at the commercial, you see how Sofia Vergara wears it. If that’s the way it’s supposed to look, then it is curve-friendly . . . and eye-friendly to all who love curves.
The knits looked baggy and shapeless to me, but that’s probably my mistake for only observing them on the hanger. If you read Sofia’s fashion philosophy, she’s all about tight and revealing. And the dress on the blonde in the commercial is definitely not baggy.
Yep–I’ll definitely be giving her line another chance soon.
I just had to check out my local K-Mart today after reading your blog this morning, and I have to suggest you try it out. I didn’t try any of the pieces pictured, but focused on the knit tops and fly-away cardigan. They are totally curve-friendly. Picked up a couple of surplice / faux wrap tops, and not only do I feel safe from giving anyone a peek-a-boo show, but they are flattering, both from the front and side. The T’s and tunics also work well. On the hanger they may seem baggy and shapeless, but I found that they fit well without having excess fabric. They’re affordable, and I haven’t encountered any issues with the quality yet.
Btw, I teach at a pretty conservative school, but refuse to forego fashion. I think the pieces I selected are professional and appropriate for my environment, yet stylish and youthful enough me.
Thanks for turning my attention to this line! Do try it out!
Wow! Thanks so much for reporting on this. I’m definitely going to try it this week.
Wish we had K-Mart in Canada still!
