I have a few more mall scouting reports to issue, but I also wanted to slip this miscellaneous non-find in. On the rack, I thought, “It seems like that top should work, but something tells me it won’t.” As I discovered last April, a V-neck by itself is not enough to make something look great on a large-breasted woman if other design elements are working against her.

In this case, the issue is too much fabric. The gathers accentuate each breast, and the flutter sleeves add width to what is already the widest part of my body. Finally, the fabric rushes from my bust to my hips without pausing at my waist. See the interesting contrast from the tunic I posted yesterday.

I’m biased towards streamlined minimalism, so maybe it’s just a matter of preference on my part. Or perhaps this top would work on someone a little taller and a little smaller? Since it’s now on sale for $12.99 down from $36, it looks like it hasn’t worked very well on very many women. (Nothing after the jump.)
