Today is NOT featuring red, white and blue. It’s featuring neon pink and white. I observed this combination while standing in line at the post office last Friday.
I’ve been thinking about the neon-bra-under-sheer-top trend. The other day I saw a less busty woman wearing a bright bra under a sheer white button down, and it didn’t look much better on her. Sometimes an idea that seems great in theory just doesn’t work once it’s taken out of the magazines and worn on the streets.
Have you seen another busty woman carry this look off successfully? Better yet, have you?
And yes, I realize there is a TON this woman could have done to improve this look. I’m looking forward to your comments on what some of those things are!
I saw a woman wearing a VERY pretty bra today at the store, but in her case her shirt was just a wide V that exposed most of it and she was bent over messing with a shoe and it made it worse. I had to stop myself from staring. Just not a look I’d go for personally.
At least it looked like she was mostly in the right size!
I think it’s the Staring Factor that makes this look hard to carry off . . . at least hard to carry off for a woman who doesn’t want her boobs to get all of the attention of everyone in the room. This is why I suspect this woman’s bust was augmented–I’ve blogged before about the different attitude that women with augmented breasts have from women who have grown up with large breasts.
Well I think there is a lot of issues with her over all look. It a bit to lumpy. I’m convinced that bra fits. This also seems more like a night time look rather than a daytime look.
I meant to say that I’m NOT convinced that bra fits. [facepalm]
I think she needs to size up in everything she is wearing. It looks like the sleeves are a bit too tight, and she’d look smoother in a larger size for sure.
I think short shorts with cuffs always look better when they are looser on your leg.
I am not sure how the whole sheer top/visible bra thing works in real life, but I am a conservative dresser, so I just can’t even think about wearing something like that.
So tempted by those sheer blouses. And I know I’d be pairing it with a cami. 😉
Oh lord. I hate this look so, so much! Neon visible bra? Really? I don’t care what size your breasts are, no one needs to see that much of your underwear in public. It’s trashy, plain and simple.
And I agree, looks like everything this woman is wearing should be a size bigger. That mock turtleneck is also doing her no favors (and must be hot, with all these 90 degree days we’ve been having!). A neon camisole or tank instead of the white top would’ve been so much better, especially with the neon bra.
Why not? I know quite a few women who paired the sheer blouse trend with a visible bra and if that bra is black or neon does not really matter does it?
Another question though, did you have the women’s consent for taking her picture and showcasing it on the internet? I feel a little uncomfortable judging her look, at it is always an implicit judgment about her body. If she likes it, why not? The bra seems close to her ‘real’ size.
Do you personally like the sheer blouse w/ visible bra look, Mia Rose? I think it looks great in magazines on models and celebrities, but I haven’t liked it on the women I’ve encountered wearing it in real life. If you have liked it on the women you’ve seen wearing it around you, I wonder if that speaks more to my American conservatism (we’re always being criticized for being prudish), or if the women you’ve seen have had a different way of styling it?
And I actually had and continue to have 2nd thoughts about posting these photos, not because I agree that I am making an implicit judgment of the woman’s body–I think her body is amazing–but because I am holding her up for criticism for a look I could tell she put a lot of work into. It’s just not a nice thing to do. I’m about to post a survey for feedback about Hourglassy posts, and I’d like to see how others feel about this.
On the other hand, I had wanted to write about the visible bra look for a while, and when I saw an actual full-busted woman trying it, I got very excited. Sometimes it takes a photo to make a point. However, I’m not sure that this makes a point about all full-busted women in visible bras so much as it does the importance of remembering two things when trying to carry this look off: (1) don’t go too snug because you’re already wearing a very focus-on-my-body look with the bright bra and sheer top; and (2) try to follow basic full-bust neckline “rules”. The high neckline is just too much fabric.
I also agree w/ Leah that this is more a nighttime look.
No, I didn’t ask for permission to take or post this photo. Legally, this is permissable, but I do understand what you’re saying, and it goes back to the idea of whether I should continue with Curve Cam posts.
She doesnt look that bad, showing off a large brassiere to show the large shape of her bosom. Its pink so its pretty. Somebody being a model, actress or anybody renowned shouldn’t make any difference. My ballroom dance teacher once wore a black blouse and a black brassiere and shes a German blonde, she looked lovely showing her bra through her blouse.
