Continuing our coverage of the A/W21 (digital) Curve Expo, this week I’m sharing Playful Promises. “Playful Promises” (“PP”) is not only a lingerie brand in itself, it’s also an umbrella under which several other full-bust brands fall, including Wolf & Whistle, Deja Day, Bettie Page Lingerie, Hustler Lingerie, and Regalia.
PP also has collaboration collections with Gabi Fresh, Felicity Hayward, Fuller Figure Fuller Bust, Collectif (swimwear), and have developed Dita Von Teese’s Lingerie line into plus sizes for ecomm customers. Whew!
Wolf & Whistle, Regalia, Hustler Lingerie, and Bettie Page core sizes all go up to UK F cups. Deja Day goes up to UK H cups, Bettie Page curve goes up to UK G, and PP (and its collab collections) go up to UK H.
In this post, I’m focusing on the brands that go up to at least a UK G cup. Everything you see here can be purchased from us.playfulpromises.com, and some of the brands are available from other US retailers as well (linked individually below). All products you see here will be released in autumn/winter 2021.
As well, PP has sent us some bra samples, so look for those reviews in a few weeks, once we’ve wrapped up our Curve coverage.
First up is parent brand Playful Promises. PP offerings are more provocative and sexy, with several “boudoir” pieces such as quarter-cup bras and crotchless panties. However, they also offer some bras that could be considered “everyday” options, which still feature beautiful colors and interesting details. From the one PP bra I’ve tried (for that upcoming review), the quality and fit are also excellent. In addition to the PP website, the brand is widely available with online and brick-and-mortar US retailers, such as Asos and Brastop. All of these bras come in bands 32-44 with cups up to UK H. Prices start at $52 USD for bras.
Next up is Deja Day. This is another one that will be included in our upcoming reviews. Starting this July, Deja Day has actually increased their size range! I don’t know what it was before, but it’ll now cover 30-34 A-H and 36-44 B-H (UK). The brand features four shapes:
Emma: A non-wired bralette named after Deja Day founder Emma Parker.
Sophia: Plunge, foam-lined, underwire bra.
Grace: Plunge underwire bra made from bonded net.
Rosalyn: Underwire balconette—a more traditional full coverage style with boned cups.
Deja Day is more of a simple everyday style, but in a variety of happy, bright colors. Deja Day is quite affordable, with bra prices starting at just $36 USD. As far as I can tell, the only US retailer where it can be purchased is the Playful Promises website, but I think this would be a perfect choice for department stores to carry. I hope its distribution in the US increases one day.
Finally, we have Bettie Page Lingerie. I really wish the “core” size range (UK 32-36 B-F) went to smaller bands and higher cups because I love the vintage aesthetic, and these pieces come in at a fairly accessible price point (starting at $63 for the bras). But as of the below collection, the “curve” range goes a little higher at 38-42 B-G. And there are plenty of non-bra sized pieces in the collection such as babydolls, tap shorts, robes, and pajama sets.
Everything below lands in August. In addition to the PP site, Bettie Page Lingerie is widely available with a variety of online retailers, including Amazon.
