This time last year I wrote about a Major Dress Haul from eBay, and in this lot of five dresses was this midi-length sleeveless printed dress.
This dress ended up being my favorite dress of the summer. This cut of this dress feels like it was made for me. It’s fitted around my full bust, it’s slim in the hips (no pockets!) and has gathering in the stomach area. FYI – Leah and I have an on-going disagreement about pockets in dresses.
And I think it makes my behind look pretty darn good too.
I wore this to work all summer (sometimes with my cream cardigan) and also on the weekends.
Bravissimo needs to bring this dress back! It’s such an amazing fit and could be made with sleeves to make it a year-round dress. Seriously, I like the fit of this dress so much that I have thought of taking it apart and making a pattern out of it.
I found a long sleeve knee length dress that is similar from Boden – if only Bravissimo would rerelease this dress with sleeves. The label in the dress is Pepperberry making it vintage Bravissimo. I’m wearing an 18 Really/Super Curvy (in UK sizing). My measurements are 50-39-45 and I’m 5’7. I’m referencing Boden for the style of the dress only – this is not a dress for the full-busted.
This dress comes with a gold belt but I have never worn the belt with it aside from the pictures last year. I found the dress currently on eBay in UK size 10 Curvy/Really Curvy by searching “pepperberry dress”.
Would any of you want to see this dress come back?
I think pockets really depend on if they are inseam, or are somewhere in the upper pelvic – and how much ease and volume are in the skirt. I have a dress from Betabrand that would look great except they have pockets like it is an oversize sweatshirt – right across the lower torso/upper pelvic area. It’s a really weird place to add extra bulk!
I insist on pockets in my dresses. I am so spoiled from all my eShakti dresses with pockets that I have bought in the past few years that my older dresses without pockets don’t get any wear. I really don’t like having to carry everything in a handbag, and sometimes I like to just put my keys and my wallet in my pockets and forego the handbag altogether. I do prefer for pockets to be in the side seam. One big problem with the front pockets in some dresses is they never seem to be secure, and items tend to fall out.
