Here’s a challenge we’re all familiar with: what do you do when you love to wear dresses for work but can’t find one to fit your waist and large bust at the same time? A common suggestion is to wear a skirt and top in the same pattern, but that can be hard to find, so I was excited to find these fabric combinations at JCP the other day. Knit fabric and princess seams are a win for busty figures.
You can get a Small in the skirt and an XL in the top if you need to! If your large chest causes the peplum to fall higher than it’s designed to, you can use a wider belt than the one provided.
I think these make for a great personal uniform in a corporate environment where you don’t want to think too much about what to wear in the morning. They can be accessorized in a multitude of ways and mixed and matched with other items in your closet.
Unfortunately, I had run out of steam by the time I discovered them so I didn’t try them on. I can see one issue with them: the cap sleeves will act like an arrow to your bust line and emphasize it. Jackets and cardigans are a nice way to neutralize that. Bust-friendly jackets are notoriously difficult for us to find, but look for some cardigan ideas from me in the days ahead.
Shopping note: Inexplicably, the JCP website doesn’t suggest the matching skirt when you bring up the top! I suggest searching Liz Claiborne knit skirts and Liz Claiborne peplums to find them separately. Here’s an initial link to one of the skirts and its matching top to get you started.
Nice!
Unfortunately they won’t help me, as I have tiny shoulders and most tops that fit in the bust are huge in the shoulders.
But a lot of women will need to know about these.
Argh. The small shoulder issue!
On the other hand, it’s a raglan sleeve. Does that make a difference?
