Last year, reader Jame gave us a scouting report about the Me-Ality Scanner and saved us the time of trying it ourselves. This week, she’s back with a find from Target that works for summer and the cooler months ahead. Read to the end to learn how she styled this dress, and tell us how you’d wear it in the comments.
I love Tar-jay like everyone else. Â But we all know, mass retailers can have inconsistent fitting.Usually, I skip right past the juniors clothing and head over to Merona and Mossimo, but the following fit and flare dress caught my eye.
I love fit and flare (or skater) dresses. Â They are cute and flattering. Â And very comfy. Â A great shape for busty ladies, whether hippy or not. Â This shape has a fitted bodice and flares out at the hip, making any of us feel a little like Marilyn Monroe. Â 🙂 This dress caught my eye with the flattering shape, and black and white pattern, which makes it easy to pair with any of my cardigans.
4. Â The scoopneck at the front is not too low or too high giving you the option of a bit of cleavage with a pushup and none with a full cup (it looks like fuller cups and definitely a balcony would work fine underneath).
5. Â The bodice is darted! Â This is the first sleeveless dress I have tried on in a long time where I did not have issues with it being too wide for my back and lacking in depth for my bust! Â I am a 34H approximately and the fit is great (wearing an XXL, so it would flow nicer over the back. I was in between sizes with a bust measurement of about 42, and the options were 41 in the XL and 43.5 in the XXL).
I definitely recommend this dress for all of you. The fabric, although a poly spandex blend, is a nice ponte-like knit. Â The abstract black print is easy to match. Â The fit and flare works well no matter what size hips you have. The belt added the extra touch of emphasis on my waist. Â Since it is ponte it is very comfy, and doesn’t wrinkle. Â I am about 5’4″ with a short torso. Â The dress is about knee length for me.
My only beef is the waist seam which is a little above my natural waist, but it is very subtle and easily camouflaged with a belt. Â All in all excellent fit for a juniors fit item. I paired mine with a coral belt and a palm green cardigan.
Next time you stop in Target for some toilet paper, head over to the dresses.
I love the look of skater dresses and have tried to find one at Express that fits, but all of the armholes have been huge. So I’m so excited to hear that the armholes on this aren’t very big!
As for my personal style I dislike skater skirts passionately. It’s true they work for narrow or wide hipped women but for me, far too girly for a corporate woman and also don’t feel they show off long legs all that well.
