Vince Camuto was a new label for me, but I found a great red knit dress at TJ Maxx that I wanted to try on. I was a bit hesitant over the bright red color. Even though I love red, it was a lot of red on a long-sleeved, knee-length dress.
Luckily Darlene spotted the same dress in blue and passed it to me over the dressing room wall. I love the colors in both dresses and the way the draping defines the waistline.
Both looked fabulous, and it took a while to decide what to do as those bright colors echo different meanings. Red signifies a pioneering spirit and leadership qualities, promoting ambition and determination. It is also strong-willed and can give confidence to those who are shy or lacking in will power. Blue exhibits an inner security and confidence. You can rely on it to take control and do the right thing in difficult times. It has a need for order and direction.
I decided to go with the blue in the end, but now I regret I didn’t get both versions! Some days at work just scream for a red dress to strengthen one’s message, and other days require the blue dress and the confidence and control it evokes.
I love both colors as well–can totally see why you’re wishing you’d gotten the red. A jacket and accessories could have tempered it a little bit. But in person, I just loved the blue one on you better.
I actually love the blue one on you (although it would look hideous on me, blue makes me look sick!) I usually just go with a colour palette that suits my colouring, but you’ve given me food for thought with taking into account the message that the colour sends.
I think I like the blue on you better- but both look fantastic!
I’m hearing more that exposed zippers are “okay” in the US for professionals but I’m not sure I buy it. I’m not a huge fan anyway so I may be a bit biased.
the exposed zipper is just fine for work, anywhere in the western world probably. Have one Pepperberry dress with a back zipper in three colours. With this the issue is that the back is too low cut for work but ok for after work.
