Do you live in or close to NYC? If so, keep Saturday, October 20, open from 11-2 for the first ever Busty Clothing Swap, sponsored by ClosetDash and Hourglassy!
I’ll post more details and an EventBrite link soon, so be ready to click because the event will be limited to only 40 attendees. However, before finalizing everything, I’d really appreciate your input on a few things. The inspiration for this event came from the swap I told you about last May, but the October 20 swap will operate slightly differently:
- $10 admission
- bring up to 10 items in sizes 2-16
- instead of poker chips, receive credits based upon the quality of the clothing you bring in
- redeem your credits for articles of clothing that others bring in
- if you have credits left over at the end of the event, you can redeem them from ClosetDash at a later date
- refreshments, goodie bags and raffle
Here are my questions:
- Call it “Busty Clothing Swap”, or is there a catchier name that also gets the idea across?
- I’m considering limiting items from participants to tops (tees, blouses, blazers), dresses, and bras, since these are the most challenging articles of clothing for busty women to find. What do you think of this idea? (Alternatively, accessories and bottoms could also be accepted, but more raffle tickets given for for tops and dresses.)
- Which companies would you like to see represented in the goodie bags and raffle?
- Any more suggestions for how to make this a great event for everyone who comes?
Just writing all of this gets me excited! I hope it gets you excited, too!!!
I wish I lived closer for this! I definitely have items I could swap too. 🙁 This sounds like an awesome idea and I can’t wait to see the write up on it.
I wish you were here, too. Perhaps we could get someone to act as your proxy!
Im very excited and honored to be hosting this event at our new Swap Shop! I want to make this event as great as possible so please let me know how ClosetDash Shop can help out! Get a sneak peek at items in our shop at http://www.closetdashshop.com
See you all on Oct 20th!
I live on Long Island but LIRR costs an arm and a leg these days.
YES! You better save me a spot now. I’ve been hoarding clothes and bras to get rid of because I’ve been too lazy to put them up for sale online. I dunno about leaving out skirts and pants, though. I could see having them be worth fewer credits, but finding pants that fit is a major struggle too. Maybe it could be framed as a “curves-friendly” clothing swap. Or would people then assume that “curvy” means strictly plus-size?
And what about accessories (handbags, jewelry)? I don’t think I have any to get rid of, but you do write a lot of great posts about using accessories to balance curves.
Wish I could be there. I have a bunch of custom jackets/tops I made for myself when I was a 36E/F. I’ve lost more than 20 pounds, now, so I need a 32I (and a smaller waist!) I hate to just give them to my local thrift because they would be perfect for someone who can’t afford custom.
If you do this in the summer or near the holidays, I might be able to come, I have NYC metro connections.
I’m getting really excited about this. I have some practically-new bras (Masquerade, Cleo, etc.) that just don’t fit right and I’d love to see them go to a good home!
