Valentine’s Day is coming fast, so when I passed The Town Shop yesterday afternoon (a New York bra-fitting institution on the Upper West Side that I’ll review someday), I ducked inside to see if they had anything beautiful and sexy for the full-breasted woman. The last thing I took into the dressing room was the best thing I tried on, a Grenier satin corset:
It’s super sexy–our cleavage looks way better in this corset than the model’s above; it’s super flattering because, after all, it’s a corset; and it’s super easy to put on because of the 15 hooks in front. It doesn’t come in cup sizes, just numbers (32-44), which means you can play with the lace-up back to make it work for you.
You can either tuck it in or wear it out because the garters are detachable. One of the many details I appreciate about this corset is that if you decide to detach the garters, the loops they were attached to stay hidden. Here’s a closeup of the fabric.
You won’t find this corset on the company’s website but you can find it in black, white and poinsetta (an amazingly beautiful red) at http://www.brabarella.com/ for only $89.99. You can also go to http://www.amazon.com/, where I found the photo above.
Hello Darlene,
Thanks for the link! Grenier has been making high quality lingerie since 1860, when they began as strictly a corset company. They have never stopped making corsets, and it shows in their cut, fit and styling. You mention how the garter tabs are tucked underneath the garment. This is an example of their attention to detail. Their quality extends to the material used, as well as how it’s sewn. Of note is that they have maintained their manufacturing in Canada (they are Montreal-based) while so many other lingerie manufacturers have farmed out overseas. This allows for high quality control. To top it all off, Grenier products fall into the moderate price range, not the high end that you would expect. Sorry to sound like a sales pitch here. Grenier actually doesn’t advertise very much, but they definitely have a very loyal following. BTW, they carry complete bra, panty and shapewear lines.
Thanks so much for these details. I was surprised at the price for the quality–I thought $106 at The Town Shop was a good deal, and the price on your site is even better. Now I’m less disappointed that Jezebel bustiers only go up to a C cup at Macy’s. The Jezebel bustiers were pretty, but not nearly as well-made or versatile at this Grenier corset.
