Sorry for another long delay between posts, readers. The Hourglassy family has all been abnormally busy with work and family this past month. Plus, we had some issues with the website (again). Luckily, it didn’t affect your ability to visit us here, but we couldn’t log in or make updates behind the scenes. I couldn’t even add any of the Black Friday sales that were announced on the actual day. What a headache!
Anyway, we’re finally back, and with quite the announcement! Our favorite bra-free clothing brand, Embrago (review HERE), has released three new styles just in time for the holidays! Even if it’s too late to order for Christmas parties, these would be perfect for a New Years Eve celebration. And considering that two of the styles are classic little black dresses (LBD’s), they’re actually perfect year-round.
To add to my excitement, Embrago is offering a 20% discount to Hourglassy readers from now until January 7! Use code SHIMMER at checkout.
Both of the new dresses feature the same cross-over neckline and bust-supporting structure that are Embrago’s signature. Don’t forget that the floating cross straps can be adjusted for either a lay-flat look or a strappy look. For a festive touch, you can use a sparkly brooch to hold the straps into your chosen position.
First up is the fit-and-flare version. This cutie has princess seams leading up the skirt to the underbust and hits at the knee or higher depending on your height (the model below is quite tall at 5’10”). And best of all, the skirt has POCKETS!
The second LBD style is a classic pencil dress (or “body con,” if you will). This one has a waist seam hitting at what I would call the “mid-rise” point. Then there is a pair of shaping seams reaching to the underbust on both the front and back of the bodice. It almost gives a slight corseted look without laces. The model here is 5’5” and the length comes to just above the knee.
Thirdly, we have the Liquid Bolero, specifically designed to complement the Embrago neckline. It features black velvet trim, Grecian draping, dramatic bishop sleeves, and a button at the bust. With elastic at the underbust, this is a one-size-fits-most option. It’s semi-sheer and really looks like “liquid metal” to me, especially with all that draping. I absolutely love the gunmetal color, but it also comes in copper and a metallic burgundy. How amazing does it look with the short dresses below??
Lastly, I’ll share some of my own styling ideas for the new dresses, with links of where to purchase my favorite options (some of these are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you make a purchase, at no cost to you):
- Biker Chic: Fishnet tights, leather boots, moto jacket
- Playful: Neon tights, Converse sneakers, cropped hoodie, colorful fanny pack
- Casual Loungewear: Leg warmers, high tops, duster cardigan
- Business Appropriate: Blazer, printed stockings, heeled boots
- Party Time: Sparkly heels, back-seam stockings, metallic clutch purse, and the Liquid Bolero (naturally!)
