I described the fit of just one Miriam Baker top for you in January. Now it’s spring, and it’s time to describe everything else I love about this season’s line.
First up, here’s another tee. The scoop neck and ruffled armholes of the Ella top, PLUS all the fit elements that I told you about in January, make this top flattering, fun and practical.
And even though we don’t need skirts and pants for our bigger boobs, don’t you love that we have a designer creating a complete look like this? On the website, Miriam pairs this Frances skirt with her very own button front Mimi blouse with sleeves that end in smocking and ruffles.
Here’s another development: performance fabric that also permit a lower price point. It’s wrinkle-resistant and machine washable. The Ella top and this Kira dress are both created from it.
To my mind, this is basically the perfect summer dress. It is fully lined, so no worrying about a slip, and it can be dressed up or down depending on the type of jacket, necklace, or shoe you wear with it.
Here’s another performance fabric dress that, sadly, did NOT make it onto her website and has not been graded from this sample size, although I suspect that if there were enough demand, she might be able to accommodate you.
Look at the back! High enough to hide a bra band.
And this dress in performance fabric in red is coming up in her next collection, so look for it on her website in a few weeks.
Now let’s get to the amazing print that she created on a stretch cotton poplin. I’m partial to sheaths, so the Isabelle is my favorite. With a blazer, it’s corporate-appropriate, and without a blazer it’s summer wedding appropriate. It’s also fully lined.
The raglan sleeve has a dart over the shoulder that gives shape and definition (good for someone like me who has rounded shoulders).
The Mara dress is a faux wrap with A-line (so pockets!), and there are two ways to wear it.
On the website you can see the voluminous amount of fabric that Miriam used to create the Megan dress. It’s more than a complete circle skirt–it feels like being inside a parachute when you put it over your head! 🙂 And yes, there are pockets.
Finally, the website does a much better job of showing the Charlotte dress than I do, but you can see on the hanger how much room the boning allows for a fuller bust. The model on her website isn’t even wearing a bra.
