I feel that belts look a bit ridiculous on the large chested because it it looks like the boobs are siting on top of it. My torso is the smallest right under my breasts as opposed to my waist, so when I wear wide belts, they always creep up to just below my bra. I wonder if this is just me, or if other women feel the same?
I TOTALLY feel the same way, Karen, and I found out last Friday that my friend Shelly does as well. But I don't think they look ridiculous on Gina. I think she really carries it off. (Interestingly, Gina feels self-conscious wearing her cardigans buttoned (which is why the grey cardigan look was her favorite) or wearing the white shirt alone–she told me I was brave for wearing mine the way I do. Hmmm.)
I think my torso is smallest at my waist, but I didn't realize until talking to Silfath that many women's torsos are like yours. I thought women who wore their belts up high like that were going for the "breasts on a tray" look, which is fine in some circumstances, but not for being taken seriously in a lot of work environments.
You know, I like Gina's favorite look with the open cardigan, but it really doesn't do anything for her shape. I like the purple buttoned cardigan, and I like the neutral look WITH the belt. I don't like the brown belt with the blue cardigan, however, I think the focus becomes the belt, which then brings the focus to the breasts and gives the "shelf" look. Perhaps a different colored belt wouldn't give that look if it was more in line with the same tones as the rest of the outfit?
