You can probably tell that I’m more of a last minute crammer than a planner, but I’m thinking ahead to the next few months of “Inside the Closet of . . . .” If you live in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut, I’d love to come by to talk to you about your closet and what you wear. I promise it’ll be fun. Just ask Gina and Fran from September and November. And if you live anywhere else in the world, we can do it by email! Just contact me at darlenecee@gmail.com.
You closet doesn’t have to be museum quality, like Nan Kempner‘s above. (If you haven’t already read the article that I link to, click on it. When I die, I want to be known for more than my clothes, but if I were 5’9″, 110 pounds and married to a banking heir, my closet might have even more than hers.) The only requirement for your closet is that it contain things you love to wear and things you don’t like. Very easy!
I go through my wardrobe every year and throw out things that dont fit or I have not worn for 3 or more years. But that always leaves me with things i like to wear and things I am not sure of.
For the last year, I've purged so many things from my closet that I never wear that I'm surprised I have anything left. But it's good to see what I actually wear vs piles of clothes that make me think I have more than I do.
It's reassuring to me that you still have things you're unsure of even after you do your annual wardrobe review.
