Best Breasts Forward ~ 9 Marshall’s Maxis

In keeping with the Hourglassy summer maxi dress theme, I decided to drop by Marshall’s and do a little browsing.  I had such luck last summer with their maxi selection that I had high hopes.  I threw on the lightest, most comfortable maxi I own.  I purchased it at Marshall’s last year along with two others that I love.  As you can see, I didn’t even wear a cardigan! Yay!  It’s a bazillion degrees outside when you factor in the humidity, and I had business to take care of.  You can see my pretty black lace bra somewhat but oh well.

Marshall’s has a 9 item dressing room policy so I wasted no time, heading directly to the back walls where racks and racks of maxis awaited.  As I’ve said before, the way I shop at Marshall’s is to grab anything and everything that looks like it might work regardless of what the tag says.  In 15 minutes I had nine dresses in my basket and made my way to the dressing room.

Out of the 9 maxis I tried on, three weren’t even worth taking a photo of.  Two of those three had no stretch in the boob area so they made me look like a brick house (and I don’t mean the hot mamma brick house from the song).  The third was a beautiful, cobalt blue . . . mooo moo.

These are the maxis that I felt were worth taking pictures of.  I made sure to take a picture of what the dresses look like on the hanger as well as on me.  It illustrates how different a dress can look on a hanger when compared to how it actually looks on your body.

The first three, I don’t care for.  The first two obviously don’t fit my boobs, although if you look at them on the hanger, you’d assume they would work better than the others.  The last dress of this group made me look like a cross between a rectangle and the Cheshire Cat, but it is something I would wear around the house because it was soooooo comfy.

There were three dresses that I liked.  The first is a size 10 Calvin Klein that looks so much better in person than in these iPhone photos.  It covers bra straps very well, and even if they happen to peek out a bit, the edges of the top are black so it wouldn’t be noticeable.

I will admit that I really didn’t like this Nell Couture dress much on the hanger.  I went ahead and grabbed it because I thought the pattern/color combination was interesting.  As it turned out, I liked it.  It looks more “boxy” on me in the photos than in person.  I need to get a portable camera stand so I can take better photos for y’all.

The last dress I tried on was certainly a surprise for me.  It was so interesting on the hanger, and I’d never tried on anything like it.  It’s basically a simple maxi tank dress but the black overlay is a wink to the flowy crop tops that are currently on trend.  I still don’t think the horizontal stripes compliment my wide waist, but for some reason I love this maxi anyway.

I picked out and tried on 9 maxis in Marshall’s in less than an hour.  Considering how difficult it can be for busty ladies to find summer maxis that fit and flatter, three out of nine ain’t too shabby.
